Examples of support for donation levels above $10,000:

  • $15,000: Sponsor the “Portraits in Faith: Seeing the Other” museum exhibition at a museum in the continental USA

  • $35,000: Sponsor the “Portraits in Faith: Seeing the Other” museum exhibition at a museum in Europe or the Middle East (requires printing and framing a new copy of the exhibition)

BACKGROUND ON THE PORTRAITS IN FAITH FOUNDATION

The Portraits in Faith Foundation, LLC has been a USA 501(c)(3) nonprofit since 2020 with an active board of directors. There are no employees; work is done by a group of contractors: graphic design, translation, text and video editing who have been working on the Portraits in Faith project for over 10 years. Our funding comes primarily from The Portraits in Faith Designated Fund at the Greater Cincinnati Foundation funded by Daniel Epstein.

The mission of the Portraits in Faith Foundation is to have a profound healing impact on the world by showing that all of humanity (truly all of creation) is on a spiritual journey together and that there is no “other.” We do this through four main activities: 1) publishing the portraits and interviews online, 2) distributing a coffee table/art book about the project, 3) a museum exhibition titled “Portraits in Faith: Seeing the Other,” and 4) conducting Sacred Listening Workshops.

There are no executive salaries being covered (Daniel Epstein donates his time) but we do have a business manager who oversees finances, book distribution, and event coordination.

OUR IMPACT

Portraits in Faith has the goal of having a profound healing impact on the world. Intergroup Contact Theory, originally formalized by social psychologist Gordon Allport, Ph.D. in 1954, posits that interpersonal interaction between different social groups can significantly reduce prejudice and stereotyping. We build on intergroup contact theory by enabling individuals to access deeply personal stories of people from groups they would normally not have contact with, especially people of different religions and socio-economic/demographic status.

To date, Portraits in Faith has achieved the following:

  • 630,000 views on YouTube for a total of 87,000 viewing hours (5.2 million viewing minutes)
  • 5,500 active email list for information on new portrait postings
  • 1,000 distributed copies of the Portraits in Faith Coffee Table Book
  • Two museum exhibitions to-date:
    • The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools Corvus Gallery (700 square foot gallery for three months in 2023)
    • The Muhammad Ali Center Museum in Louisville, Kentucky (2,500 square foot gallery for ten months and thousands of visitors in 2024)
  • 20 Sacred Listening Workshops held in the continental USA

In the future, we plan to partner with experts in Intergroup Contact Theory to quantitatively measure the impact of Portraits in Faith content.
