Seeing The Other Workshop at Indian Hill Church in Cincinnati

2 February 2024

A beautiful “Sacred Listening” workshop was held on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at a very unique church in Cincinnati:  Indian Hill Church which is one of very few congregations to be dual denomination—both Episcopal and Presbyterian, complete with two different clergy that alternate leading Sunday worship.  So they are truly wired for overcoming differences on a daily basis.  We were the guest of Rev. Stephen R. Craine who was eager to try this Sacred Listening work with his congregation.

Rev. Caine had this to say about the experience: “Daniel Epstein contacted me unexpectedly via email and we worked to put together a workshop for Indian Hill Church. I am not sure what my expectations were because I had spoken to him, and seen his website, his pictures, and his videos. So, I knew he did incredible work that was extremely high quality and authentic, so my hope was for a great workshop. However, my expectations were blown away! Daniel is a gifted artist and interviewer but his passion for genuine spiritual discovery made the afternoon! He shared his own story as well as his passion for spiritual discovery that surpassed what his website and coffee table book can provide.  We had a small group of twenty folks, and each one was engaged fully in the process, the interaction, and the exploration. In conversations following the event I have heard from attendees that, “We need more of this!” “It was great!” “What are our next steps?” “When can we have him back?”  The workshop challenged me to do more personal introspection, seeking peace inside myself and healing inside myself by listening to the other. “

Even more exciting is that Indian Hill Church will be sending a group of congregants to Adath Israel Synagogue on June 2nd for a combined Sacred Listening Workshop.
